"Artificial" assistance to nature on a global scale
Every year the amount of food that is being sprayed with chemicals is growing. In supermarkets, we can notice a bunch of beautiful, shiny vegetables and fruits, which look very unnatural, like the poisonous apple from the Snowwhite fairy tale. This problem also applies to grain products and plant-based products in those stores.
Every day we consume contaminated food. Even if we buy seemingly healthy products in well-known store chains, we are constantly exposed to contact with harmful chemical substances.
The appetite is growing while we are eating, and the fast pace of life favors growing demands towards vegetables and fruit. When we buy so-called “regular” tomato we expect it to stay fresh at least for a week. It was previously sprayed with chemicals and they are responsible for that. Nowadays consumers don’t have enough time to shop every day, so they expect the food to stay fresh as long as possible.
The complicated world of dependence
As you can see easily, seasonal fruit and vegetables, are now available all year long. So for example, if we crave an apple during wintertime, we just go to the supermarket. The farmers are spraying fruits with chemicals, so they won’t lose their crops because of the bad weather conditions and they can still sell it in winter. It not only kills unwanted bugs, but it also causes huge harm to our bodies as we consume all these pesticides and chemicals.
Nature copes with everything itself
For centuries nature has regulated itself only under one condition- human is not interfering. Weed and vermin problem is then secondary because it is caused by people, who are destroying fauna and flora. It leads farmers to the usage of chemicals to keep their crops “healthy”.The UE regulations in the field of chemicals and pesticides aim human health and environment protection and preventing trade barriers. They include the regulations on putting in use specific categories of chemical products, harmonized crops, restrictions related to the use of specific high-risk substances and rules of conducting dangerous cases and utilization of hazardous substances. The term „pesticides” specifies the group of the substances, that are used to fight, eliminate and prevent harmful organisms.
Pesticides include biocidal products and plant protection products. The biggest achievement of the UE is the” REACH” ordinance, which regulates registration, evaluation and reducing the usage of hazardous substances. On the European Parliament website, there is a note about environmental protection politics, precisely of chemicals and pesticides. It’s also worth mentioning that the term “pesticides” is defined as natural and synthetic components, which are supposed to protect plants against pests. It’s hard not to notice here the paradox of „helping” the nature with artificial means.
Buckwheat causes cancer
At the end of last year, it was a lot of discussion about glyphosate content in buckwheat in one of the famous chain store. Glyphosate is a substance used in the production of herbicides. At the beginning of last year, a similar situation took place in Ukraine. Glyphosate in industrial agriculture has been used for a very long time to fight weeds as well as to dry grains. That means also that buying grain products in supermarkets puts us at risk to be exposed to glyphosate as well as other chemicals.
What does the term „BIO” really mean?
The ordinary consumer can go crazy with an overflowing amount of names for organic products. At the first sign, it seems that all the names we can find on the labels are synonymous. The truth is, that this is not a case. Those names are usually unclear. Fast research will prove that it all depends on our perception and point of view. The term “bio” means a different thing for an ecologist and it’s something else for the United Europe official, who puts this term into usage in the food industry. The only time that we can be sure, how good and ecological the food is, it’s only when we consume our own crops or crops of a farmer we know.
What does the chemistry, which is preserved in food do to our bodies?
You are what you eat. So how can we be healthy, if we annually consume over 2 kilograms of dyes, antioxidants, and emulsifiers? The food not only has a huge impact on the way we look but primarily the way we feel, work and on our brain proper functioning. All preservatives we consume are the reason why our immune system is lowering, we are prone to obesity, cancer and other diseases. They also cause various allergies. All these chemicals in our food cause and intensify many health issues ( for example skin infection, migraine, runny nose, and sensory hypersensitivity). Even though not each substance is harmful from the very begging, in reaction with some other substance it may become dangerous, causing a health hazard. That’s why the best solution is to remove from your diet highly processed food and buy vegetables and fruits from the farmer we know. And if it may be recommended to start your own cultivation.
Chemistry and its effect on soil
The soil, which is being constantly fed with pesticides will eventually stop giving crops. The enormous amount of chemicals not only affect the vegetables and fruit but also the soil, which is accumulating all of them at the end. The fields on which plants used to grow after this kind of “treatment” became arid, not able to carry any more crops. Chemicals have a direct impact on plant growth and development. It also causes vitamin deficiencies in vegetables, which contain a bunch of it when grown in normal conditions. Although there are various ways of soil cleaning from pesticides, the reality is we cannot remove them completely. In that way, chemicals create a real, global threat to our planet.
Death, death, death
But that’s not it! Have you ever wonder why “so-called” organic food is packed in plastic containers? This is a common paradox, but the majority of people don’t think about it when they choose bioproduct wrapped in plastic. More than that, during the production of highly processed food, the enormous amount of rubbish is being produced, which is already unmanageable, so we can only imagine what kind of challenge the future generations will have to face?
Spraying of chemicals has a huge impact on climate as well as the lives and health of future generations. We are also mummified by the preservatives that can be found in the food nowadays. In the past human corps decomposed at the right rate, so it was no problem with the lack of burial places available in cemeteries. All processes were regulated by nature itself. Today, under the disguise of „helping nature” we are in fact facing the consequences of our own mistakes. How will the plant cultivation look like in the future, when we can already see very arid fields? Where will we receive vitamins and minerals which are so necessary to the functioning of our organism?
Will there be enough oxygen for our grandkids to breath with. Let’s not agree to the world, whose main mechanism is its own destruction.
