Szymek’s story

Szymek has been staying at the trader’s for several weeks. He traveled, he got fat, he got heavier. He is ready now. The day is coming when he will have to climb the trader’s truck. This time he will go to the slaughterhouse.
As I approach him, he greedily takes a carrot from my hand. After a while, he snorts a little, closes his eyes, and lowers his head sadly. Because although he ate with delight, he would have given all the carrots in the world to get back his sick and disabled mother who, although she could not play or run with him, was his whole world.

His mum Szorka died. Previously healthy, with each passing week of pregnancy it was becoming more and more difficult for her to stand on her sick legs. As her due date approached, she was lying almost all the time. With muscle atrophy, this petite mare, with bedsores, but she still did not give up. As if she knew that each grain of oats, each blade of hay was a greater chance for life for the child she was carrying under her heart. At the farm owed by the old man, she could not count on the help of a doctor or a blacksmith. She had lived here all her life and knew she had to fend for herself.

The childbirth was long and hard, and Szorka did her best. When after a few hours the baby was born, although she did not have the strength herself, she licked him with great care, so that he would dry faster and he would get up. Szymek was born small but strong and with a great will to live. From the first day, he ate and ran, ran and ran. Although their barn was not large, it was there that Szymek discharged the excess of foal energy, because the farmer would not let them go outside. The tiny foal was like a sunbeam in Szorka’s ending life. The caring mother rose on her sore, deformed hoofs so he could eat. She cared as much as she could and every day tried to keep her beloved Szymek safe. This continued for several weeks. Szymek grew and his beloved mother was feeling worse and worse. She was getting weaker every day. She passed away one morning in March when it was raining outside. Or maybe it wasn’t raining at all. Maybe it was heaven that cried over their fate…

Szymek was left alone. His beloved mother has passed away. Care, security, and the best care are gone. Szorka’s inert body was dragged onto one car, and the terrified Szymek was forcefully loaded onto the other. He didn’t know what was happening, but he felt the world he knew was over. And he already knew that he was alone and his heart was full of longing for his mother. Beloved mother …

Ladies and Gentlemen, Szymek became an orphan very early and there is no one in the world for whom he is important. He is completely alone. There is also no one who today when the specter of a slaughterhouse hangs over him, would like to save his life.
Ladies and Gentlemen, his fate broke our hearts. We couldn’t turn around and walk away. We made a deposit for Szymek, believing that you would also like to support the rescue of this child. Please don’t be indifferent. May the sacrifice with which Szorka save her son. We ask you once again for urgent support because there is very little time. Until June 10, we have to pay for his life and transport. In total, it is as much as PLN 3600.
There will also be an urgent need for veterinary and blacksmith care, vaccinations, deworming, and good-quality fodder. For a good start to a new life.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please help.
