A drone shot of the Australian bush on fire won the top People’s Choice Award in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. The author of the picture “Bushfire” is Rober Irvin. Over 55 thousand people have voted for the photo.
The main organizer of the competition was the Natural History Museum in London, and all the awarded works can be found on the official website of the museum. The gloomy picture of a fire in Australia won the most votes from the public, although this year it was the effects of human activities on the environment that were one of the most discussed topics.
The author of the winning photo did not hide his satisfaction that it was his photo that was awarded. Why? As he said himself, this photograph perfectly illustrates the devastating influence of human activity on wild nature. Perhaps it will allow us to understand its scale and make many of us reflect.
