The heaviest cherry in the world has been written down in the Guinness Book of Records. The fruit of the Sweet Stephany variety from the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna weighs more than 26 grams, is larger than chestnut, and almost as heavy as many apricots. Apart from experts, the University of Bologna was also involved in the process of adjudicating the record result.
The cherry fruit comes from an experimental cherry orchard in Runco near Ferrara. From the very beginning, as soon as the harvest began last year, it attracted interest due to its size. And so, the procedure for entering it into the Guinness Book of Records began.
This cherry broke the previous record, which was almost 24 grams.
