UN report on food waste

Food waste is a huge problem that affects all countries. It affects both rich and poor countries. Every year, huge amounts of food end up in the trash. According to the latest UN report, 20% of the food available to our planet is being wasted. That’s almost a billion tons of edible products. As we learn from the report, for each person there is an average of 74 kg of food products thrown away per year.

According to specialists, to successfully fight against the phenomenon of food waste, in addition to systemic actions, greater consumer awareness is also needed. It is also important to use the products you buy to minimize throwing them away.

The report on this phenomenon was created to support global efforts to meet the UN goal of decreasing food waste by 2030.
