On June the 8th we celebrate World Oceans Day. This special day was officially established by the United Nations in 2009. The seas and oceans provide shelter for 80% of plant and animal species living on our planet. Now their home is under threat. The state of the seas and oceans depends mostly on our daily decisions. That’s why, we should make conscious and right choices.
You don’t need to take big actions to protect marine ecosystems. All you have to do is limit the amount of plastic used, sort out the rubbish with care, and put only fish and seafood products with MSC certification into your shopping cart. Global overfishing is, along with plastic pollution and climate change, still one of the biggest problems that the oceans of the world are facing today. If we do not start using the resources of the seas and oceans responsibly, it can have devastating consequences for the entire marine ecosystem. Today is an ideal opportunity to think about it and start making changes.
