We are particularly focused on horses because we have huge knowledge in this field. But we take care of all the animals. And even though the majority consists of horses, we also provide care for 50 donkeys, lamas, goats, pigs, rams, chickens, turtles, foxes, birds, cats, and dogs. Each animal has different needs, that’s why we are trying to adjust our knowledge and infrastructure to them.
No, we don’t receive funding. All our activities are financing by privet individuals and institutions from all over the world. All the projects we were able to succeed it’s the effort and success of all involved people, donors, activists, veterinarians, journalists, and many others. We are just a tool, without the help of others, we would never achieve our goals.
Yes, we share a variety of projects with other organizations, private individuals, and local governments. We also offer financial support for smaller organizations, whose goals are similar to ours, but they are not able to collect funds for their project. From our own experience we know how hard it is to start.
Before we use various media, nowadays we use mainly the Internet and social media. Additionally, we stay in contact with our sponsors, constantly, we organize many reunions in our facilities, meetings on charity fairs. We update them with current projects by mail.
Generally, we give animals for adoption, wherever they can find an amazing home, where they can stay in touch with us for the rest of their life. Currently, we take care of approximately 500 horses, and the same amount has already been adopted in many European countries. We just need to translate the agreement, in which both sides have to agree to the terms of the adoption.
There is not such a possibility, but it was never a problem. Centaurus doesn’t sell the animals like a property, the only available form is an adoption. Our adoptive families are in constant contact with us, once a month they send us pictures of their pupil, and they can also use our substantive advice, but also financial support. All that is regulated by our adoption contract.
Certainly! But you have to remember that we can’t accommodate a horse in our apartment. Either you have to be capable of putting the animal in a horse hotel or have a comprehensive infrastructure near your house. A horse has to be taken care of, have a huge running place and company of other horses- these services are available in our adoption agreement. The person adopting has to remember All the cost of horse’s accommodation they are responsible for after signing the commitment. Also, horse transportation to the new house is the responsibility of the adoptive family. Certainly! But you have to remember that we can’t accommodate a horse in our apartment. Our horses are intended for people, who want to have a horse for themselves, as a friend or as a family pet.
In that case, instead of buying a horse you should adopt one. Then you are also guaranteed that if your animal will get sick, or you have any difficulties in life, your pupil’s future is in safe hands. In any of these unfortunate cases, the animal will always be taken care of by our foundation if it’s necessary. Also if any financial issues will occur along the way, you can always count on financial support on our behalf.
The person who adopts cannot use the animals for reproductive or financial goals. This means horses will never be given up for adoption to work in recreation, entertainment or breeding.
Those horses usually have been through a lot, and more than that we want to make sure that the person who intends to adopt one of our animals would not have any alternative motives, such as financial profit. Because it means that they would be sent back to us in case of their sickness or for retirement.
And this is not the place we look for them to stay in. The most important for us is the possibility of friendship and collaboration, not exploitation. We try to protect our horses and always to be on the safe side.
The horse should have a status of the companion animal- when it doesn’t have it, it could lose its life by being slaughter. That’s the reason why so many slaughterhouses are created. The other problem is those horses, which are exploited in sport, breeding, recreation. Very often private owners are giving up the horse, which grows up with their kids, but for example, get sick. Under our supervision, we are dealing with many horses with many different backgrounds.
We receive the phone call or email asking for help because someone found out that someone they know, the friend, the neighbor some center or resort nearby got rid of the horse, who was picked up by a horse dealer. This kind of individual usually makes those animals fat and then he sends them to a slaughterhouse. We are aware of where those places exist, so sometimes we just visit them and negotiate the price to set the particular horse free.
In Poland horse maintenance is very high, that’s why a lot of organizations from all over Europe run such centers. But still, it’s very expensive.
The majority of our horses are not suitable for use, but the 30 percent are, and they can be given for real adoption. It rarely happens that someone could be interested in an old or sick horse, but of course, such cases occur as well.
